Two members of the Indigenous People were amongst the 88 government employees who graduated during the 2nd Commencement Exercises of Davao del Norte Learning Institute-Davao del Norte State College (DNLI-DNSC) at the RDR Gym yesterday, October 17, 2016.

The two IP Graduates came from the Municipality of Talaingod. Other student-employees came from the different Local Government Units in the province. 66 of them finished Bachelor of Public Administration and 22 completed a Certificate in Pre-School Education.

In line with the theme, “Achieving Dreams, Bridging Gaps, Pursuing Human Development,” the guest speaker, Former Governor Rodolfo del Rosario expressed the Province’ aim of honing employees to  become effective catalyst of change for the betterment of their respective communities.

Our theme for this occasion, “Achieving Dreams, Bridging Gaps, Pursuing Human Development” reflects our focused passions and commitment in achieving the vision and goals of our Province. It speaks well of the true outcomes of the continuing education that DNLI offers, particularly in transforming not only our individual government employees and the provincial bureaucracy, but also the communities where our graduates live,”stressed RDR since it was during his term that DNLI was instituted to cater government employees who has not yet earned a degree.

The special program of the DNLI intends not only to enhance but more importantly make use of the added proficiency of student-employees in delivering public service. “The special academic programs of the DNLI not only improved the competencies and maximized the potential of our personnel. . . The vital academic interventions cured bureaucratic gaps. We are able to improve the capacity of our employees to deliver the best services that our people so deserve. As I have said, it is only the best workforce who can serve the best interest of our Dabaonon people,” further stressed by then Governor RDR.

Classes held every Saturday and Sunday has encouraged the employees to finish school. Even if some are already over 40 years of age, they still manage to complete their studies considering they only have to pay 25% of the tuition.

But, who said that you cannot teach old dogs new tricks. Many of you have busted that notion. You have overcome the pains of going through the modern process of preparing your assignments, term papers, projects and the likes using new educational technologies and the internet. You defied the odds just to be able to finish your course at all cost,” reminded Governor Rodolfo del Rosario.

Last 2014, 30 regular employees have completed their courses and became the first products of DNLI-DNSC.
