Davao del Norte – Davao del Norte-based fashion designers will have their day in the sun in showcasing their talents during the Kadagayaan Fashion Night for a Cause on June 26, 2018.

Some 34 indigenous-inspired casual wear and formal wear and/or evening gown collections are expected to be displayed by the local couturiers during the colorful evening, as a highlight of the 51st Araw ng Davao del Norte celebrations.

The Bb. DavNor 2018 candidates shall model the creations, which took their inspiration from the people, sounds, sights, shapes, colours and other icons of the respective cities or municipalities of the province.

Governor Anthony del Rosario said the show will flaunt the skills, talents and expertise of the local fashion designers, highlighting the local ethnic materials or traditional fabric and patterns that are available and have originated in Davao del Norte or the Davao Region.

Aside from opening avenues for local and aspiring fashion designers, the governor said the event will also be an auspicious venue for the Dabaonons to appreciate and patronize home-made fashion products.

The activity will further serve as avenue for the women sector to promote their respective advocacies, particularly in advancing the welfare and development of the women in the province.   

Adding value to the locally-produced masterpieces, organizers of the charity fashion show hope to generate funds for the benefit of the women sector, as well as the local fabric producers, designers and bead-makers.

Proceeds of the sales shall be distributed among the local designers, the local respective Councils of Women being represented, and the Provincial Council of Women, which in turn shall be extending support through livelihood projects to capacitate local women weavers and bead-makers.

The Province provided a subsidy of P5,000 for each participant of the show, which is likewise being hyped to pave the way in materializing the production of DavNor fabrics especially made of banana fibers.

Prizes at stake for the winners include are P10,000 and citation for the champion; P7,500 and citation for the 1st Runner-Up, and P5,000 and a Citation for the 2nd Runner-Up, each for both the Best Indigenous-Inspired Casual Wear and the Best  Formal Wear (Evening Gown) categories.

The celebration of the 51st Araw ng Davao del Norte is firmly supported by the Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (TADECO), Ulticon Builders, Inc. and MED 9, as the official anniversary partners.
