Davao del Norte conducted a Career and Employment Coaching for the Volunteer Surrenderees for Reformation (VSR) last February 7, 2017 at the SP Building, Kapalong.

The career coaching is a continuation of the provincial program Aksyon, Gabay tungo sa repormasyon (AGR) that aims to assess drug dependents, identify their level of dependency, and classify and provide programs they need as assistance for their reformation and integration to the mainstream of society.

“Ako nagatuo na kitang tanan na naa diri karon, adunay skills ug talento na mahimong magpasulod sa inyo sa trabaho. Kinahanglan lang gyud na ma align kini ug tama aron walay job mismatch”, said Governor Anthony del Rosario.

During the coaching, the Provincial Administrator’s Office- Livelihood and Manpower and Development Division (PAdO-LMDD) in partnership with the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office (PAgro), Provincial Veterinarian’s Office (PVO), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Local Government Unit- Public Employment Service Office (LGU-PESO) of Kapalong presented the types of services the VSRs can avail.

“Duna tay mga line up of Livelihood programs, Scholarship qualification na pwede ma avail sa atong mga VSRs, in terms of livelihood, of course the province of Davao del Norte through PAdo –LMDD will be providing livelihood training”, Gloria Pamugas LMDD division head said.

Mayor Maria Theresa Timbol said that there has been a significant change in  peace and order in the municipality since the program’s launch last November 14, 2016.

“Dako kaayo siya og natabang, kay sa among crime rate diri, pati mga petty crimes, ni baba gyud siya og maayo”, Mayor Timbol said.

The province as well as the municipal government invested in helping the VSRs in their efforts to change their way of life, aligning programs that commit to the continuous direction of their reformation.

“Kadtong mag rehab sa luntiang paraiso, libre siya, kay nakabutang mi karon og pondo na naa sa mga 1 Million para support gyud sa atong mga igsuon nga na abot ana na bisyo”, the mayor added.

The skills training will open employment opportunities for VSRs who are unemployed.

“Dako kaayo ni siya na tabang sa mga drug dependent na ni surrender ka ang ilang gusto na assistance ma avail gyud nila”, alias Mario, a VSR said.

The assistance does not only stop with training but will also include helping them find suitable market for their products.

“After they have produced a product, dili nato biyaan ang atong mga VSRs. Ang Munisipyo sa Kapalong makipagalayon sa probinsya alang sa paghatag og marketing facility sa puhon na iproduce na produkto aron dili masayang mga iproduce.” Pamugas added.

After the career and employment coaching, actual training from appropriate agencies will follow.
