The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte took a significant step toward sustainable development today as Governor Edwin “Kuya Gov” Jubahib and Mr. SM Anand Subramaniam of SMA Ecogreen Corporation formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the proposed development of an Integrated Waste-to-Energy Facility in the Municipality of Kapalong.

The ceremony was personally witnessed by Davao del Norte Vice Governor Clarice Jubahib and His Royal Highness Tengku Putra of the State of Selangor, Malaysia, on the latter’s three-day royal visit at the province. Upon his arrival at the Provincial Capitol, His Highness was warmly welcomed by the provincial and local officials, and the PG department heads.

The proposed Integrated Waste-to-Energy Facility is envisioned to rise on a 125-hectare property in Barangay Mamacao, Kapalong, with its nearest residential community being situated on the eastern portion of the project site and lies within a one-kilometer radius.

During the ceremony, His Royal Highness commended the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte for its vision of pursuing the project, describing it as a demonstration of responsible leadership in addressing today’s environmental challenges. He noted that the initiative has the potential to become a model of sustainable development for the whole region.

Governor Jubahib also expressed his gratitude to the State of Selangor, Malaysia for its willingness to collaborate with Davao del Norte in advancing the project. He emphasized that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship and expressed optimism that the partnership would pave way for more initiatives that will contribute to the province’s continued progress and development.

The governor added that such historic agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at exploring sustainable waste management solutions while opening opportunities for future investments in Davao del Norte.
