Governor Anthony G. del Rosario (AGR) has formally opened Davao del Norte’s Capitolympics 2016 last September 27 2016, at RDR Gym.

The sportsfest is part of the month-long celebration of the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

With the theme, “Manlalarong Kawani ng DavNor: Maabilidad at Nagmamalasakit,” the activities lined up for the celebration does not only promote a more active lifestyle to all employees of the provincial government but also fosters them to show competence and compassion in their duties.

“This year’s Capitolympics is, therefore, a fortunate occasion for us to boost the well-being of our provincial workforce. We hope to inspire them to continually do their best for the good of our Dabaonon people. The event encourages our personnel to lead an active lifestyle and to internalize the values of teamwork, generosity in victory and dignity in defeat. Such pleasing traits are crucial in our thrust of building a winning province in this globalizing world,” del Rosario said.

The governor said his administration is putting high premium on the health and wellness of Capitol employees and the constituents, to enable them to propel the sustainable development of the province.

“We know the debilitating effects that lifestyle diseases are having on our society. . . . For this reason, we have strengthened our provincial physical fitness and sports development program to reverse this depressing trend,” Gov AGR stated

“The theme echoes the subservience of our provincial personnel in pursuing the aims of our governance slogan, “Abilidad at Malasakit (AMA). The former, which means competence, speaks of the culture of excellence that we are espousing in our pursuit of transformative leadership. While, the latter, that is compassion, reflects our brand as a caring bureaucracy intent on serving the best interest of our people,” he added.

Governor AGR reminded all participants to enjoy the sporting events despite the nature of competition.

“Remember to have fun in all your sporting activities. Show what you can do with your talents and skills. But, also remember to be compassionate to everyone,” Gov. AGR encouraged.
