Davao del Norte 1003rd AFP Brigade Commander Ricardo Nepomuceno urged the public to be vigilant at this time when threat of terrorism is prominent, especially on crowded areas.

In the recently held Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Meeting at Bulwagan ng Lalawigan last Monday, 19 September 2016, Nepomuceno reminded (the public) that even in the absence of a bomb threat in Davao del Norte in general, it is best for the public to remain vigilant.

It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte declared a State of National Emergency on Account of Lawless Violence in Mindanao under Proclamation No. 55, Series of 2016 last 04 September 2016. Following this proclamation is the reinforced cooperation and synergy of DavNor AFP and PNP to tighten security and strengthen peace and order in the region.

Moreover, it is advised for public to remain calm and alert should there be anything supsicious observed.

“Actually dinhi sa Davao del Norte, what we have accomplished so far is yong jointness with the PNP. Una is increasing visibility ng AFP and PNP forces to allay yong fierce. Pangalawa as what I have said, the best thing to do is prevention thru deterrence. We will make it hard for the terrorist to plan yong conduct of terrorism dito thru of course information, visibility and target hardening [Actually (here) in Davao del Norte, what we have accomplished so far is the jointness with the PNP. First is increasing visibility of the AFP and PNP forces to ward off (possible destruction attempts). Second, as what I have said, the best thing to do is prevention thru deterrence. We will make it hard for the terrorist to plan conduct of terrorism (acts) here thru of course, information, visibility and target hardening].” stated Nepomuceno.   

In the said PPOC Meeting, the Army Commander encourages the local officials and leaders every department to strengthen security in their respective offices.

Furthermore, Nepomuceno advised the public to continue on with their daily normal acitivies while remaining vigilant.

He also reminded the police that the public must not become fearful of the tightened security in their communities and checkpoint areas. They assured that there will be no actions similar to Martial Law in their perfomance of activities and fulfllment of duties contrary to what most fear about.

In addition, the PPOC approved bomb sniffing dogs in large enterprises and other establishments with high foot traffic including government offices.
