Davao del Norte is stepping up its competitive advantages by pushing electronic-government systems and applications to promote more efficient and effective local governance, more government accountability and better delivery of public services.

The Provincial Development Council (PDC) approved the P17 million to fund the Comprehensive and Strategic Plan for E-Governance during their recent meeting at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan, Tagum City.

Governor Antonio G. del Rosario (AGR) said the province is implementing e-Governance to boost the competitiveness of the province.

“Our E-governance is something that we are focusing on because we want our province to be competitive... we want innovation in our province... to make our jobs easier also as managers,” the governor said.

Del Rosario added that e-Governance would hopefully solve the problem of unavailability or lack of necessary information the provincial bureaucracy needs to make the necessary decisions and to also track the progress of ongoing government projects.

The program is anchored on the Link to the World component of the B.E.S.T. P.E.O.P.L.E. development strategy of the governor.

“It’s very vital to have e-governance because it will really fast track the decision-making process and the information we want to get so we can decide easily and fast, and for transparency and accountability and accessibility… of course it is anchored on the B.E.S.T. P.E.O.P.L.E’s development strategy of Governor Anthony, particularly on Link to the World,” Samson Sanchez, Provincial Administrator said.
